Celebrating 2019 China New Year-Spring Festival

The origin of the Lunar New Year Festival can be traced back thousands of years, involving a series of colorful legends and traditions. One of the most famous legends is Nian,an extremely cruel beast that the ancients believed would devour people on New Year’s Eve,to keep Nian away.

The Spring Festival is the most important holiday for the Chinese people, all family members try to meet together, just like Christmas in the west, All people living away from home go back,becoming the busiest time for transportation systems of around half a month from the Spring Festival,airports,railway stations and long-distance bus stations are crowded with home returnees.

Before the Festival, it is common for Chinese to paste the character”FU” on walls and doors in the Spring Festival, It shows people’s yearning toward a good life. Character”FU” to signify that blessing has arrived because “inverted” is a homonym for “arrive” in Chinese.

At China New Year’s Eve,every household would have dinner together,after dinner,all the family members would sit together,chatting with each other.therefore,”celebrating the Spring festival is also called passing the year, and the dinner is called “reunion dinner”.
