The Plain Type are used to machine center holes in shafts, and to do other operations where their rigid construction and drill chamfer combination can reduce machine time;
The Bell Type provides a protected center that preserves the center and protect it from being deformed by rough handing;
The Radius Type produce a reduced bearing surface and a protected center for compontents that reqiure a high precision close tolerance grinding between centers.
